Smash the potatoes with a handheld potato masher (this is my favorite one for potatoes) and add the butter.
Creamy red potatoes are crushed, drizzled with a toasted browned butter, and baked up to gloriously crispy and brown in the oven.
I recently tried them using Golden Baby Dutch potatoes and they were absolutely delicious. With a potato masher, gently press down each potato until it slightly mashes, then push the excess out of the masher back on top of the potatoes. Place tender potatoes on the sheet pan, leaving plenty of room between each potato.
