Easy Recipe: Tasty Garlic Seitan
Garlic Seitan. Seitan consists of hydrated gluten, which is the main protein of wheat. Sliced seitan gets seasoned with garlic powder, celery salt, black pepper, and cayenne when I am making a French Dip sandwich.
Increase the heat to high, and bring to a boil. For this recipe, I used a portion of Kathy's Oil-Free Mega Seitan Protein, sliced it thin, and marinated it overnight. So seitan is basically just gluten.
Chickpea flour and nutritional yeast is added to lighten up the dough and give the seitan a lighter texture and flavor.
Add onions and garlic, and cook, stirring until lightly browned.
Gradually add the liquid to form a stiff dough, stirring with a spoon at first, and then working together with your hands. For this recipe, I used a portion of Kathy's Oil-Free Mega Seitan Protein, sliced it thin, and marinated it overnight. Stir-fry to coat the puffs with hot liquid to soften.
